This photographic exhibition shares French designer Christophe Gaubert’s view on a place initially foreign to him. From attention to the mundane to fascination for the unexpected, he connects the dots between seemingly insignificant things that are nothing but Singapore.
Over the last seven years, the accumulation of photographic notes has generated a subjective portrait of this unique city. From details to patterns, the images unfold the complex dialogue woven between the living and the built, in a form of harmony and sometimes conflict that speaks as much to the origins as to the trajectory of an evolving city in nature. As a tribute to the beauty of this place, each photograph is a pretext to talk about what escapes the eye but profoundly connects us to our environment.

About Christophe Gaubert

Christophe Gaubert is a French Industrial Designer, Associate Professor at the NUS Division of Industrial Design and director of the Design Incubation Centre. His professional and academic practice converge towards a philosophy of Visionary Design, questioning the emerging phenomena that allow anticipating societal, cultural and technological mutations. Beyond producing images, Christophe uses photography as input to his design practice. For him, it is a tool for exploring reality, an opportunity to grasp things from a different angle, to shift perspective to better understand a context, to generate reflection, and to trigger the imagination.
