Join us for a sharing session by See Kian Wee, recipient of the Objectifs Artist Residency 2019 with international residency partner Matca, a Hanoi-based photography space.
Kian Wee’s presentation will cover his art practice, his residency project “Finding Cụ Rùa”, about the legendary turtle of Hoan Kiem Lake and its significance to the people of Hanoi, and his learning points from his overseas stint earlier this year.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with the artist.
See Kian Wee
Based in Singapore, See Kian Wee (b.1989) uses art making as a method of investigation of the world around him. Fascinated by humanity’s need for storytelling, Kian Wee’s current art practice explores the relationship between the society, its myth-making mechanisms, and the narratives brought about by it. Working primarily with photography, he looks into its efficacy as a form of myth-making tool, often bridging into other visual and sensory media as well. https://www.seekianwee.com
