Issues of domesticity, familial ties, and feminine identity will be explored in the third edition of Objectifs’ Women in Photography group exhibition, which will spotlight the works of eight international women photographers. The Women in Photography 2017 Exhibition is curated by Emmeline Yong.
The photographers’ subjects hail from domestic help in Bangladesh, to the impact of war on everyday life in the Middle East, to the homes of strangers across North America. Their intimate stories about specific communities deal with critical issues such politics, gender, sexuality, end of life issues, cultural identity and oppression. Through these images, these photographers make bold statements about the societies in which they live and work.
Women in Photography is part of Objectifs’ annual Women in Film and Photography showcase. The programme celebrates extraordinary and groundbreaking works by women photographers and filmmakers, highlighting the important contributions that women make to the arts.
